Irina Timofeeva

Irina Timofeeva started sewing as a child. By the age of 20 she discovered patchwork and quilting. For many years, not only has she been making quilts, but also collecting fabrics.

Most of her quilts are modern, but she also likes working in traditional techniques because it is the best way to showcase her collection of thousands of fabrics.

She likes fine art and she often tries to create quilts inspired by paintings, fabric patterns and her own experiences.

From fabrics to quilt

This exhibition is built as Irina Timofeeva’s homage to fabrics.

Different fabrics sparked her interest and creativity: 19th century artisanal fabrics, Russian avant-garde of the early 20th century, mass produced mid-century cottons, modern quilting fabrics and everything in between.

Discover the meticulous care taken in selecting each piece for its color, texture, and meaning and study her compositions in detail to uncover her secrets. This exhibition will make fabric and design lovers very, very happy.
