Virtual Voyage: Pixels & Patchwork

Victoria Findlay Wolfe treasures the joyful memories of her childhood spent with her grandparents – making quilts with her quiltmaker grandmother and tending to gardens with her nature-loving grandfather. The creative essence of those times is woven into her contemporary art quilt creations. Through the incorporation of family photographs and bold patchwork, she breathes life into these cherished memories, infusing them with a playful narrative.

Throughout her artistic journey, Victoria has been driven by a curiosity to blur the boundaries between fine art and craft—a discourse that resonated deeply during her years in art college, where she pursued studies in painting and photography for her fine arts degree. Despite being discouraged from integrating quilting into her art projects due to its classification as craft rather than art, Victoria has remained steadfast in her belief.

This conviction has become a cornerstone of her practice, as she cleverly merges the techniques learned in the 90s—painting, photography, and digital skills—with her expertise in sewing, patchwork, and layering of color for a display that evokes a variety of emotions. In these large-scale works, Victoria presents a visual ode to the past, a poignant display that reverberates with nostalgia and reverence for these cherished memories.
