Rute Sato

Rute Sato was born in Brazil from Japanese immigrant parents.

She graduated in product design and delved into the art of quilting when lived for a period in Japan. She has a studio in São Paulo where she’s been teaching patchwork for the past 20 years. She dedicates her spare time to creating art quilts to participate in exhibitions.

Her favorite style is figurative based on everyday life and nature themes. Through her creations, she endeavors to convey social messages and advocate for environment stewardship.

Rute has yet another passion: cats. Apart from the five she has adopted, which live in her house, she also devotes herself to caring for abandoned cats, particularly those living near her studio.

Scenes of everyday life

Among the dozens of artworks created over the years, Rute has chosen 11 for this exhibition.

These pieces share a common theme of everyday life with a distinct emotional resonance. Whether set in urban or rural environments, they depict architectural dynamics, social nuances, bustling movement, and human diversity.

In rural landscapes, the focus is primarily on the importance of nature preservation, accompanied by a social commentary that underscores the joy found in the simplicity of life.
