Modern Quilting: Straight lines are always in!

Workshop topic: Longarm machine
Languages: French flag English flag
Nb of students: 10

This is a 3-hour hands-on longarm class of quilting straight lines and creating designs in the negative space. Participants will learn how to plan their quilting lines before the quilting starts – in order to avoid unpleasant surprises! No two quilts are alike so why would the quilting be the same? Learn how simple straight lines can be effective and elegant in blocks and borders with just a few changes in the lines. All straight lines are completed with a variety of straight edge rulers. Come learn about the rulers all while creating a modern small quilt.

The teacher

Martha’s passion for quilting started when her grandmother left her a Sunbonnet Sue quilt top. Martha knew she would need to learn how to quilt in order to finish that quilt top. She found a quilting mentor, who taught her everything about piecing a quilt and hand quilting. Since Martha lives in fast mode, she knew she would need to learn how to quilt by machine. She started on a domestic machine and worked her way up to a longarm machine.
Martha opened her own quilting business in 2014 and hasn’t looked back. She is a well-rounded quilter and has won ribbons at local quilt shows, the Indiana State Fair and the Indiana Heritage Quilt Show. She loves to make a quilt come alive with her quilting and no two quilts are quilted alike. Currently she is running her quilting business with her HQ Forte® and HQ Fusion® with Pro-Stitcher®. Her digitized designs can be found at Quiltable.com. Martha loves spreading her enthusiasm and joy to other quilters to inspire others to break the rules and create their own style.
She is a Veteran of the US Air Force, a retired policeman, and married to her wonderful husband and has two grown sons.
