Shin-hee Chin is a Koream-American fiber and mixed-media artist who has dedicated over two decades to art education. Since 2004, she has been a faculty member in the Art and Design Department at Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas, where she currently serves as a professor. Throughout her tenure, Chin has taught courses including drawing, painting, color theory, and mixed media, guiding students toward discovering and honing their creative abilities. She was born in Seoul, South Korea and cultivates a rich artistic and academic journey shaped by both Eastern and Western influences. Her educational background includes a BFA and MFA in Fiber Arts in South Korea and a MA in Fiber Arts from California State University in the USA. Beyond her teaching responsibilities, Chin is an active artist whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Her art explores themes of identity, cultural hybridity, and spirituality, providing students with a rich perspective on integrating personal experience into creative expression. As a mentor, she emphasizes the importance of cultural context and personal narrative in art-making, encouraging students to explore their unique voices within a global artistic landscape.
