Born in China, YongMei Liu always knew that textiles were her source of inspiration and her creative material. Trained at the Fine Arts School in Beijing, she then became the photography editor for the Chinese magazine “Psychology.”She has been living in France since 2008. Her artistic progression is spectacular. She transitioned from artisanal craftsmanship to an artistic practice where she revealed her true dimension by working with indigo. She continued her training by visiting Asian tribes in southern China to deepen her knowledge of this dizzying blue.Today, she is taking a new step by working on the effect of rust on fabric and creating textile sculptures inspired by Japanese shibori. She folds, sews, ties, dyes silk and cotton but stops her gesture before unfolding the fabric. Thus, she creates a kind of mystery around her sculptures. The material alone will keep the secret of the dye.Guided tour: daily at 3 PM (FR)
