After years of varied experiences in textiles, clothing, and patchwork, along with some essential courses, Martine has been working almost exclusively by hand for about thirty years. She primarily creates houses in appliqué, including reverse appliqué to enhance perspective, which is a signature of her work. She also adds appliquéd or embroidered characters, often accompanied by a slogan reminiscent of vintage advertisements (like Chocolat Menier and others). Paris inspires her greatly, but so do the provinces and the countryside.Architecture plays a significant role in her landscapes, and it’s the combination of fabric appliqués with embroidery that brings them to life (something is happening) that attracts her. Old city quarters, regional houses, and the countryside are a rich source of inspiration for her. She has frequently exhibited in her region (Franche-Comté), and numerous articles in specialized press have helped her gain recognition. It was in 2011 that the Carrefour Européen du Patchwork first opened its doors to her in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, a great success that was deeply rewarding for her. This was followed by other prestigious and magical venues such as the Prague Patchwork Meeting and the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham. It is with immense pleasure that she returns to exhibit in 2024 at the Carrefour Européen du Patchwork, meeting her passionate international audience.
