Heidi Drahota studied to become a middle school teacher with knowledge in art, history, mathematics, and biology. After teaching for 27 years, she has been working exclusively as an artist for 10 years.She practiced photography, ceramics, and watercolor painting. Since 2002, her artistic style has shifted towards techniques combining textiles and materials. She is self-taught and has learned many textile techniques such as needle felting and quilting.She has exhibited her textile works since 2009, in juried exhibitions since 2014, and her works have been recognized worldwide since 2017.She initiated and created the international exhibition “Matière à réflexion”, which was organized in partnership with the Nuremberg Human Rights Office on the occasion of the Human Rights Award in 2015. She organized and managed the exhibition for over three years, traveling from Fürth to Prague and then to Birmingham.Heidi Drahota was born in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, Germany, in 1961, and lives with her husband in Nuremberg.
